The Artwox Model 1:200 HMS Hood deck masking template is a set of self-adhesive masks for spraying the extensive deck surfaces of a large model. It is cut for the Trumpeter 03710 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory from Artwox Model for the plastic kit of the British battlecruiser Hood. It is not a kit or a model but a sheet of self-adhesive masks that define the deck surfaces before spraying. The set is cut for the Trumpeter 03710 kit.
A model in 1:200 scale is among the largest ships built, and the size of the masks matches. A large piece of mask is easily stretched or folded onto itself, and after that it can no longer be settled reliably. It works well to lift the sheet slowly, hold it by two opposite edges and lay it from one end step by step rather than dropping the whole area on at once. Anyone who is unsure can divide a large piece with a cut into two parts and overlap the joint; it disappears in the surface. Drive air bubbles out with a soft plastic squeegee toward the nearest edge.
The base has to be degreased and fully cured. Every unevenness shows on a large surface, so spray in thin, slightly overlapping passes, three times rather than once by force. Run the airbrush parallel with the planks of the deck, not across them, so that any streak falls in with the structure. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has gone off and pull it back over itself at an angle. Any adhesive residue on the plastic comes off with cotton wool and a little pure alcohol; do not use thinner, as it could attack the fresh paint.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
