The package holds five plastic kits of the American medium bomber North American B-25 in 1:200 scale. They are released by Trumpeter and supplied unassembled and unpainted. The set is conceived as an accessory to warship models in 1:200 scale, where it is used to fill the flight deck, but it also serves as the basis of a smaller airfield diorama.
The B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engine medium bomber with nosewheel landing gear and twin vertical tail surfaces. It came about at the end of the 1930s and became one of the most widespread bombers of the Second World War, used on practically every front. It served for conventional bombing from low and medium altitude, for attacks on shipping and, in the later versions, for fire support with very heavy gun armament in the nose. It also entered history because a group of these aircraft managed to take off from the deck of an aircraft carrier, although it was never designed to, and to carry out a raid over a great distance. It is that episode that has made it a favorite subject for completing ship models.
The parts are very small in this scale, so use a sharp knife to separate them and sand the gate remnants away with a fine file. The twin vertical tail surfaces have to be symmetrical, so fit them dry and check by eye from the rear. Lay the paint down with an airbrush in thin coats, so that the small details are not flooded. The glazing of the cockpit and the nose can simply be suggested with a fine brush. If you place the aircraft on the deck of a ship model, it pays to suggest chocks under the wheels and tie-downs on some of them, which adds a great deal to a diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
