An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Sword. It is short-run molded plastic complemented by resin details, masking templates and quality decals. The Late version corresponds to the later production form of the bomber with partial modifications. The box contains clear parts for the extensive glazing of the cockpit area and the tail.
The Mitsubishi G4M was the main Japanese land-based naval bomber of the Second World War, which the Allies designated by the code name Betty. It stood out for its long range, thanks to which it operated over the vast Pacific, but at the cost of having no armor and no self-sealing tanks - which is why it caught fire easily when hit and had an unhappy reputation among the crews. The G4M1 version was the first production variant with the characteristic cigar-shaped fuselage.
Short-run toolings call for more work: count on cleaning the parts up, cleaning the molding edges and dry-fitting before gluing. Glue the plastic with a liquid cement for plastic, cut the resin parts off their casting blocks, wash them and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Mask the extensive glazing with the templates enclosed. Apply a primer before painting; the typical dark green upper and light lower camouflage comes out well with an airbrush and fine shading of the panels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
