A set from the Basic Line range of the manufacturer HGW for models of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 fighter in 1:72 scale. The set belongs among masks and is used when painting a fully glued airframe, mainly for the sake of sharp and evenly wide frames on the glazed canopy. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model.
The Bf 109G-6 was the most widespread version of the G series, powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine. Its recognition features are the bulged covers over the fuselage guns ahead of the cockpit, which the heavier fuselage armament called for. The G series saw many production subvariants, which differ in the shape of the canopy, the height of the vertical tail surface and the equipment — which is exactly why it matters with accessories to compare the shape of the parts with the particular kit you are building.
Wash and degrease the glazing before applying the masks. Lift the parts with tweezers one at a time, seat them to the frame and press the edges down with a wooden stick. Spray in several really thin coats — in 1:72 every step along an edge shows. Remove the mask while the paint has only just set, and peel it off slowly, folding it back over itself. The recommended procedure is to spray the frames with the interior shade first and only then with the exterior shade.
