Gloster E.28/39 Pioneer 1:72 is a plastic kit of the first British jet aircraft, based on a classic older mold.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the Gloster E.28/39 Pioneer, historically the first British aircraft with a jet engine. It is a reissue of a classic mold of an older date, so the surface and the details match the technology of their time. The model suits collectors of historic aviation milestones as well as modelers who like simple and quick builds.
The E.28/39 was created at the start of the 1940s as a flying testbed for the jet power unit designed by Frank Whittle. It first got into the air in the spring of 1941 and proved that jet propulsion was usable for aircraft. It was a small single-seat all-metal machine with a tricycle landing gear whose only task was research, not combat service. The E.28/39 program opened the way to the later British jet fighters.
With older molds it pays to sand the mating surfaces of the parts and to check the fit with a dry assembly, filling any gaps with putty. Use a thin modeling cement on the plastic, apply a primer before painting and lay the color on with an airbrush or a brush. Slight overhangs and soft engraving match the age of the mold, but with a little care a handsome model comes out of it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
