Single-sided express masks for the TBD-1 Devastator (1:48)

A set of precisely shaped self-adhesive masks for the plastic model of the American carrier-borne TBD-1 Devastator torpedo bomber in 1:48 scale. The single-sided version covers the outer side of the glazing. Express masks are pre-cut to their final shape, so you only peel them off the sheet and stick them on. It is an accessory for painting, not a kit. The cut is worked out for the Great Wall Hobby kit.

The real subject

The Douglas TBD Devastator was an American carrier-borne torpedo bomber, in its day a modern all-metal monoplane. In the early stage of the war in the Pacific it served with the US Navy and became known for its part in the early carrier battles. The long glazed cockpit with its many frames is demanding to mask.

Use

• Peel the mask off the sheet, stick it onto the part and press it against the clean edge of the frame.
• We recommend spraying the color of the inner frames first and the outer shade afterwards.
• Once the paint has dried, remove the masks carefully.
• The pre-cut shape saves time compared with tape by hand.
