Sharp pointed tweezers from Excel are modeling tweezers for work with the smallest parts. The name gives a length of 4 3/4 inches, that is roughly 12 cm.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pointed modeling tweezers belong to the basic equipment of both a build and a display case. The sharply tapered jaws reach where fingers cannot and will hold a part so small that it would be lost in your hand. The only dimension the manufacturer gives directly in the designation is the overall length of 4 3/4 inches, that is approximately 12 cm.
Where you will use them during a build
A sharp point is an advantage and a risk at the same time. It sinks very easily into soft plastic, into fresh paint and into a damp decal, so hold a part with the side of the jaws rather than with the tip. Never use tweezers as a pry bar or as a screwdriver, because the tips will spread and then no longer meet. If they do spread, they can be aligned carefully, but never as they were from the factory, so it pays to keep a second pair of tweezers for heavier work.
Cosmetic tweezers from a drugstore have thicker and shorter jaws, meet only in the last few millimeters and shoot the part out when squeezed. Pointed modeling tweezers have jaws that are thin along their whole length and meet precisely, so they hold even a part the size of a dot without flinging it away.
For anyone building plastic models with photo-etched parts, decals or small equipment, and equally for collectors who only repair and straighten details on finished models.
