The Excel Spoon Tip Burnisher is a burnisher with a spoon-shaped end. The concave surface spreads the pressure, so it smooths down film and putty on rounded shapes and leaves no scratch.
Responsibility details are not available.
A spoon shape differs from a pointed tip in the way it touches the surface. It touches it not at a point but across the whole concave face. The pressure is therefore spread and the tool leaves neither a scratch nor an indented dot, even if in the heat of the work you press on it harder than you meant to. That is precisely why a spoon is the choice for anything rounded.
Where it is useful
Pressing self-adhesive film or a mask down onto an engine cover, a hood, a domed canopy or a rounded superstructure, where a pointed tip would puff the film up into wrinkles. Smoothing fresh putty on a rounded transition so that less sanding is needed. Burnishing down a small irregularity on a smooth surface. It will serve as well when working with resin, where a hollow is left after removing a casting block and you only want to level it rather than sand it flat.
A burnisher is not a tool for shaping or for scribing, and it is not meant to be pressed into the material. With putty it is better used while it is still pliable; on dried putty the tool merely slides. Keep the concave face smooth and clean, because any residue of glue or putty on it will print into the next surface. A spoon will not reach into narrow corners and panel lines; there you need a smaller and narrower end.
Keep the end clean and smooth and protect it from being dropped. The tool is not intended for scribing or for prying.
