A mask set of kabuki tape in 1:48 scale for a model of the A-10C Thunderbolt II attack aircraft, in the basic extent designated as BASIC.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American attack aircraft built around a single thing, around the massive cannon in its nose. Everything else serves to let the machine take fire from below and stay over the battlefield as long as possible: a heavily armored cockpit, twin vertical tails and engines set high up. The C version is the upgraded form with a reworked cockpit and new avionics.
Cutting a mask for the glazing yourself means hours of fine work with an uncertain outcome, and yet the frame of the cockpit is exactly the place everyone notices first on a finished model. Ready-made masks of kabuki tape have a shape matching the parts of the model, they seat well even on a curved surface and once lifted off they leave no adhesive residue on the paint. The BASIC designation distinguishes the basic extent within the range from more comprehensive sets; what the sheet carries and which kit it is cut for are given by the manufacturer.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, onto a clean, degreased and perfectly dry surface. Lift the parts off the sheet with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, as fingers will grease the adhesive layer. Press the edges of the mask down properly, otherwise paint will blow under them, and spray in thin coats perpendicular to the surface rather than at an angle under the edge. Lift the mask off as soon as the paint has dried to the touch, and do it slowly and at a shallow angle to the surface so that it does not tear the edge of the coat.
A mask set is supplied. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
