1:48 F-4G Phantom seatbelts STEEL are photo-etched steel seat belts from Eduard for a model of the F-4G Phantom II aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is a cockpit add-on, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set handles one place on a model, but a very visible one: the seat belts of the ejection seats. The parts are etched from steel and supplied printed in color, so painting is no longer needed. Against brass, steel has the essential advantage modelers value most on belts: it holds its shape after bending. A belt can thus be left to fall naturally over the edge of a seat or to lie loosely on the cushion, and nothing returns it to flat.
The F-4G Phantom II Wild Weasel V was a two-seat aircraft for suppressing air defenses, rebuilt from F-4E airframes. The crew consisted of a pilot and a systems operator, both on ejection seats, so the belts are in two places in the cockpit and with the canopy open they are really clearly visible. Plastic kits as a rule handle this part only with a hinted relief on the seat.
Cut the belts out of the fret with a scalpel, not with scissors, which will crease the metal. Do the shaping with blunt tweezers or a wooden toothpick over an edge, so that no scratches appear on the print. Bend the buckles only once; repeated bending will crack the steel. They are bonded with a minimal drop of super glue, best with a pin or a wire, or the belt can simply be hooked under the cushion. It is advisable to assemble the seat off the model and to set it into the cockpit only when finished.
