The real subject

The Nissan Skyline GT-R of the R34 generation was built at the turn of the millennium and belongs among the best-known Japanese sports cars of all. Under the hood it has an inline six-cylinder of 2.6 liters with a pair of turbochargers, and the power is transmitted to all four wheels. Its distinguishing marks are the angular body with a short overhang, wide fenders and a massive wing above the rear end. The car was made famous by the racing scene as well as by movies and computer games, so interest in it among modelers is constant.

The model

A kit in 1:24 scale means a finished model roughly 19 cm long and around 7 cm wide, that is, a size at which the shape of the body and the layout of the interior can be made out. How many parts the set contains, which equipment and color variants it offers and what procedure the manufacturer recommends are given by the enclosed instructions; plan the order of work by them too, because with a car model a good deal has to be painted before it is closed up inside the body.

Building and painting tips

Wash and degrease the body before painting, otherwise the paint will not take. Apply the paint in thin coats and let each of them dry, as a heavy coat fills the shape transitions and runs. The gloss comes only from the top coat and from fine polishing. Glue the glazing at the very end and with a cement that leaves no milky film.
