It is issued by the Nunu Models brand in its racing range, which concentrates on circuit and rally specials of the 1980s and 1990s. The tooling is modern, so the fidelity of shape and the part breakdown match today's standard, not old reissues.
The Lancer Turbo was a Mitsubishi competition special built on the Lancer EX sedan. It was powered by a turbocharged two-liter four-cylinder and drove the rear wheels, so the car still belonged to the era before the arrival of all-wheel drive, which took over rallying a few years later. Characteristic of it are the wide fender flares, massive rear wings and the angular body of a sedan, which in photographs looks completely different from the later Lancer Evolutions. In September 1985 the first large international rally held on the territory of China started from Hong Kong to Beijing; the field consisted of competition cars of the top category of the time, and Mitsubishi entered precisely the Lancer Turbo in it. It is this event that the color scheme represented by the kit corresponds to.
With a rally special the decal sheet decides: apply the large sponsor areas on perfectly gloss varnish and use a decal softener, so that the decal follows the edges of the fender flares. Gloss varnish under the decals and matte or semi-matte varnish at the end will give a competition car the right character. You will liven up the interior of the roll cage and the seats with a dark wash, and the exterior with a fine dust shade from the lower edges upward; exaggerated mud effects on a model of this scale easily slip into caricature. Accentuate the chassis and the exhaust with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
