Black Dog 1:48 Mirage 2000 engine is an add-on set rendering the powerplant of the French Mirage 2000 fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail intended for displaying the engine outside the airframe or in an open tail.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not an aircraft model but a detail set from the Czech brand Black Dog. It renders the powerplant of the Mirage 2000, which plastic kits deal with at most through the shape of the exhaust nozzle. The set is intended either for a tail opened up for maintenance, or for the engine to stand on a trolley beside the aircraft. Both are rewarding subjects, because the engine itself is more interesting to look at than most details of an airframe.
The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a French single-engine fighter with a delta wing. It is powered by a SNECMA M53 turbojet with an afterburner, whose later versions raised the thrust and the reliability enough for the machine to serve with a number of foreign operators. When the engine is changed on a Mirage 2000, the rear section of the fuselage is separated and the engine is drawn out backwards, so a scene with a dismantled aircraft has a real basis.
Build and paint the engine separately, while you can reach it from all sides. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent first and let them dry; they are glued with super glue. Metal surfaces look best over a smooth, gloss base, so spray them over a gloss black primer. Suggest the heat discoloration around the nozzle with a thin overspray of brown and blue paint and finally unify the detail with a dark wash.
This is an add-on set, not an aircraft kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
