A mantlet with the barrel of the 77 mm OQF gun for the A34 Comet, 1:35 scale replaces both the gun mantlet and the barrel from the kit on a model of the British cruiser tank, in the form without the canvas cover.

This is not a kit of a tank but an accessory used while building a model of the A34 Comet in 1:35 scale. The set joins the gun mantlet with the barrel of the 77 mm OQF gun and is listed as the form without the canvas cover; the covered variants are made separately by the manufacturer. The barrel replaces the plastic part from the kit, so sanding down the lengthwise mold parting line falls away, and because it is metal and turned, it is straight and carries its own weight.
The A34 Comet was a British cruiser tank introduced in the closing phase of the Second World War. Its main weapon was a 77 mm gun of the HV type, in British nomenclature Ordnance Quick Firing, that is OQF: derived from the 17-pounder gun but with a shorter case, so that it could be served inside the turret. The Comet proved itself well, served for a number of postwar years and reached the armament of several armies. For a modeler it is interesting precisely because the difference between a carefully and a carelessly done front of the turret shows so clearly on it.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface on abrasive paper on a flat support. Degrease the metal barrel with alcohol, or primer will not hold on it. It is glued with cyanoacrylate; on larger mating surfaces two-part epoxy is more comfortable. Try the axis of the barrel dry. Once painted, the mantlet is brought out by a dark wash around its circumference and a fine lightening of the edges, which on the real vehicle were rubbed the most.
