About product

PANZER ART 1:35 commander's cupola for the early Tiger I - resin accessory

A standalone detail set in resin in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART. It is not a tank model but a replacement commander's cupola for the early version of the Tiger I heavy tank. The casting captures the characteristic shape of the early cupola with its vision slits exactly and is fitted in place of the part from the box.

The real subject

The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War, feared for its thick armor and its 88 mm gun. The early versions had a different, so-called drum-type commander's cupola with vision slits around the sides, which later machines replaced with a type carrying a hatch and periscopes. A faithful rendering of this feature sets the early variant apart.

Usage tips

Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and sand them with respiratory protection. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Check how it lines up with the opening in the turret. Once primer is on, the vision slits come out well with dry-brushing and a wash.

Who it is for

  • Builders of German armor in 1:35
  • Modelers of the early Tiger I versions
  • More experienced modelers working with resin

The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
