About product

430 Cedric Sedan 1:24 from Aoshima

An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima in 1:24 scale, placed in the The High Society Car range. That range is devoted to Japanese luxury cars, which in the days of their fame were called so-called hiso cars. The real subject is a Nissan Cedric of the 430 series in a sedan body, that is, in the version with separate window frames, not in a hardtop. The kit belongs to a higher category of difficulty and rewards a careful modeler with an honestly engraved exterior with plenty of chrome detail.

The real subject

The Nissan Cedric of the 430 series was introduced at the end of the 1970s as a representative of the Japanese upper class. An angular body with large glazed areas, chrome window surrounds and rich trim was exactly what a buyer of the time expected from a prestige car. The sedan version was popular with companies as well as state institutions, and in the streets of Japanese cities it was then absolutely omnipresent.

Building and painting tips

On this car the interior and the glazing are what decide. Build and paint the instrument panel and the upholstery before you close the body, and help yourself with matte shades and a fine wash in the recesses, so that the area does not look dead. Mask the chrome window surrounds with thin tape or replace them with a decal film, and pull the tape off before the paint has fully dried, so that no ragged edges form. Glue the clear windows exclusively with a cement intended for clear parts and rinse them before fitting, because fingerprints are then impossible to correct from the inside.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Japanese luxury cars of the 1980s
  • Modelers who insist on a clean interior and glazing
  • Anyone interested in the The High Society Car range
  • Intermediate and advanced builders

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is the name of a model range of the manufacturer devoted to Japanese luxury cars of the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, which were then called hiso cars.

A sedan, that is, the version with separate window frames. The hardtops of the 430 series are separate kits with a different body.

Rather not. The manufacturer places it in a higher category of difficulty, and what is demanding is mainly masking the chrome window surrounds and building the interior.
