Most of the modeling production for this type revolves around the G-6 version, and no wonder: more of it was made than of any other and it carried an extraordinary number of modifications. The large-caliber machine guns above the engine forced bulges onto the cowling, a cannon sat in the propeller shaft and gondolas with further armament appeared under the wing. It is exactly the variety of equipment that makes the G-6 a rewarding subject, because almost every machine looked a little different.
The difference is visible at once. A decal sits on a thin film which in the light gives its outline away with a glossy rim, and on a riveted surface it holds only with the help of a softener. A sprayed marking has no film, it merges with the paint and it will take any surface wear without the risk of the rim speaking up. It is worked with the other way round, though: first the lighter part of the marking is sprayed, then it is covered with its own shape and the darker circle or band is added. The order from the lightest area to the darkest holds here too and cannot be got around.
Glazing from both sides, four masks for the national insignia and decals in addition, so the choice between the two procedures stays with you. It is practical to compare both ways directly on the model: spray the marking on one side and put the printed sheet on the other. After a test like that you will remember for good how the surface behaves under side light.
