1:24 Bond Car Submarine is a plastic kit of the movie car in its submarine configuration in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Fujimi.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a movie vehicle in its submarine form, that is in the configuration in which the sports car from the Bond series turned into an underwater craft. The model is in the automotive scale of 1:24 and is put out by the Japanese brand Fujimi. It is a kit, not a finished collector's model. The contents of the package, the number of parts and sprues and the makeup of the decal sheet are stated on the box and in the instructions.
The subject is a movie prop in which a wedge-shaped 1970s sports car with a body by an Italian designer turns into a submarine: the wheels retract, control surfaces extend from the sides and the tail, and propellers provide the drive. It is exactly this transformation from an ordinary car into an underwater machine that is among the best-known movie effects of its time, and as a modeling subject it is interesting because it joins the forms of an automobile with elements you will not find on an ordinary car. The model therefore looks appealing even outside a classic car cabinet.
Prepare the body as you would on an ordinary car model: wash it, sand the parting seams, apply a filler primer and lay the finish on in thin coats with an airbrush. Because the subject has no exposed wheels, the quality of the finish on the smooth surfaces stands out all the more. Glue the control surfaces and the propellers on only once the finish is done, so that they can be masked easily. If you plan to display the model in an underwater setting, bear in mind that neither a base nor a water surface is included in the package and both have to be dealt with separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
