1:24 Cones # 2

What the set offers

Traffic cones in 1:24 scale, that is, in the scale common for models of cars. A cone is a small thing, but in a scene it works as an explanation of the action: if you put two in front of an open hood, a viewer knows at once that the car is standing out of service, not just parked. It serves just as well at the entrance to a workshop, around an excavation or as the marking of a lane.

Where it fits

The 1:24 scale suits models of passenger cars, garage and service scenes and road vignettes. A cone is at the same time a rewarding accent of color, because a striking orange reads at first sight in an otherwise gray or asphalt scene. It pays to place them sparingly and with irregular spacing, because a regular row looks artificial. They also work well in a pair with other small things of a scene, for instance with tools or with parts put aside, which together tell what is happening in the place at that moment.

Building and painting tips

Before painting, wash the cones in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and degrease them, so that the paint holds. Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. For gluing use a glue suitable for the material of the parts, usually super glue; try the layout dry before fixing them. A new cone is conspicuously clean, so the scene will benefit from a light soiling with a dark wash at the foot and a fine rubbing of the edges, which will suggest that the cone has already seen some service.

Terms of supply

The package holds the elements of the set to the extent the manufacturer states. A model of a vehicle, a base, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
