An engine assembly stand in 1:24 scale from the diorama line of the Polish brand Yamamoto Model Parts. It is a free-standing workshop prop, a wheeled frame into which an engine taken out of a car is clamped in a repair shop, so that it can be turned around and worked on from every side. The engine is not part of it and the accessory does not replace a car kit.
An engine stand is the key to one of the most rewarding subjects for a garage diorama: a car taken apart with the engine out. Without it, an engine in a workshop either lies on the floor or hangs in the air, which looks unnatural. With a stand the scene has a story at once: the engine is in the middle of the workshop and the body stands empty beside it. This is exactly the element no car kit holds, because a car kit deals with the vehicle, not with the setting it is repaired in. On top of that, the accessory also suits engine kits and engine detail sets that a modeler wants to display on their own, outside a body.
Separate the frame from the carrier, level the seating surfaces and wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. Choose the glue according to the material; on resin and 3D-printed parts, super glue holds reliably. While gluing, watch that the stand stands level on all its casters, as a tilted frame cannot be missed in a finished scene. Paint over a primer in a rich workshop color, lighten the edges with a dry brush and put a dark wash into the recesses. Suggest stains of oil and grease with a glossy dark shade around the foot of the frame.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The engine, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
