The car presented in 2019 returns to the tradition of calmly drawn Ferrari touring cars, where the point is not extreme downforce but clean lines and a long hood. Under it works a turbocharged eight-cylinder engine, the power goes to the rear axle through a dual-clutch transmission, and the interior stakes everything on two separate cockpit areas. Within the brand's range this type is among the most balanced shapes of the last decade.
The body and most of the parts are cast in resin, to which the maker adds photo-etched sheets, resin wheels with tires, clear parts from film and from formed plastic, and decals including a carbon-fiber imitation. The set has over a hundred parts and is aimed at a builder who wants a finished piece at the level of a collector's model.
The material differs from ordinary kits at every step. The parts are not separated with cutters but cut and sanded, the joints are held by super glue or a two-part adhesive, and the surface has to be washed and given a primer before paint. The reward is the crispness of the edges and a fidelity of shape that injection tooling cannot manage.
The model belongs in the hands of an experienced car builder with the facilities for painting. A beginner risks trying out mistakes on an expensive body that are hard to put right. Anyone who has worked with this material before, though, gains the basis for a model not easily met on a shelf. Reckon with a longer preparation of the surface, but with a build free of lengthy filling of parting seams, because the body comes in one piece. At the end it pays to polish the paint with a polishing compound to a deep shine.
