Injection-molded plastic model of the racing Ford Escort in the Zakspeed team's Group 2 form, in 1:24 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. The kit captures the wide racing body of the second generation Escort with its sports fenders and aerodynamic additions, including a well-detailed engine. A decal sheet and color instructions for the period team livery are included.
The Ford Escort Mk2 was among the mainstays of touring car racing in the second half of the 1970s. The German Zakspeed team built a tuned Group 2 special out of it and ran it in the sponsor's colors above all in the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC). The combination of a light body, a strong four-cylinder engine and careful preparation made the Escort a fast and agile circuit car of its time.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic; treat the body with a base coat (primer) before painting. Spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and lay the sponsor decals on a smooth glossy surface, then go over them with a varnish if you like. Paint and assemble the detailed engine and interior before closing up the body. Fit the chrome and transparent parts (glazing, headlights) last, so that they do not fog.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
