The GX61 Cresta Super Lucent model in 1:24 scale captures an elegant Japanese sedan of the first half of the 1980s.

A kit of the Cresta sedan with a body carrying the GX61 code in Super Lucent trim. The car represents a representative Japanese sedan of its time and at a ratio of 1:24 it goes well with other sedans of the same era.
The Cresta was created as the most luxuriously tuned member of the trio of sibling models with shared engineering. While the related models aimed at more sportily inclined customers, this type banked on calm, room and rich equipment; the name of the trim level itself suggests as much. Its hallmarks are thin roof pillars, a large glazed area, straight lines and the chrome decorative parts that set the Japanese sedans of the day sharply apart from their European rivals.
The best result comes from a procedure in which the body and the interior are painted separately and joined only at the end. The light shades that suit this class of car need a good white filler primer, otherwise the color of the plastic shows through. Chrome trim strips call for a steady hand; anyone who does not trust their own can reach for self-adhesive mirror foil cut into strips. The interior is brought to life by a different color for the seats and the instrument panel.
Before the car heads for the display case it has to be assembled and painted; the material needed for that is not enclosed.
