At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s the Japanese touring car championship was dominated by a single type. The Nissan Skyline GT-R with the body code BNR32 had an inline six-cylinder engine of 2.6 liters with a pair of turbochargers and all-wheel drive, which could move torque to the front according to the slip of the rear axle. The homologation rules of Group A were based on the production car, so the racing was done with technology a customer could buy in a showroom.
The colors of the individual teams turned the same basis into entirely different cars. The car tuned by a well-known tuning firm lined up in the 1992 season and its livery is among the striking combinations of the whole series, in which the same shape appeared under a dozen different sponsors.
In 1:24 it is a classic Japanese car kit: a body of several parts, glazing set into frames, a well-worked-out chassis and a racing interior with a roll cage and a bucket seat. The wheels and the tires match the shape the car wore in the season in question.
The paint and the sponsor graphics eat up the most time. There are a lot of decals, they have to sit over the rounded edges of the fenders and overlap each other, so it pays to proceed from the large areas to the small lettering and always to let an area set between the individual steps. The base under this kind of marking should be glossy, otherwise air will be trapped under the edges.
