A kit of the sporting version of the Japanese Isuzu Bellett sedan in the 1600 GT-R form of 1969, in 1:24 scale. The model comes from Hasegawa range of historic cars, which concentrates on Japanese production from the 1960s to the 1980s. The early version designation tells this form apart from the later changes to the car, which differed in details of the exterior and the interior. It is an injection-molded plastic kit for gluing.
The Bellett was a compact sedan from Isuzu, and its high point was the GT-R version of the late 1960s, built with competition and circuit racing in mind. It was powered by a 1.6-liter engine with twin overhead camshafts, which in the class of compact Japanese sedans of the day was the equipment of the sharpest models. The car is sought after by collectors today precisely because few were built and because it represents one of the less known branches of Japanese sporting motoring.
Cars of this period have plenty of chrome strips, window frames and handles. It pays to separate them and deal with them apart from the body, either with a polished metallic shade or with a carefully led brush once the paint has dried. The sedan body is a large smooth surface, so it is essential to sand the parting lines down and to spray in thin coats over a primer. A 1960s interior takes the textures of cloth and plastic well, and they come out nicely after a light wash. Fit the glazing right at the end and bond it with a glue that will not fog clear parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
