The kit in 1:24 scale captures the Mazda Cosmo Sport coupe, one of the best known Japanese cars of the 1960s. The boxing belongs to the collectors' Collectors Hi-Grade range, which adds extra parts to the basic plastic tooling; according to the name these are metal engine parts in this case, so the weight of the release lies in detailed work on the powerplant. Check the exact make-up of the sprues, the number of parts and the extent of the decals on the box and in the instructions.
The Cosmo Sport was the first series-produced Mazda with a twin-rotor Wankel engine and it also appeared on the market under the designation 110S. It was built from 1967. The rotary engine made a very low front end possible, which shows clearly on the elongated body with its narrow headlights and flat nose. Today the car is among the sought-after Japanese classics and is a rewarding subject for models in 1:24 scale.
Sand the body carefully before painting and spray it with a filler primer — glossy automotive shades reveal every unevenness and every trace of a parting line. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats, let it cure thoroughly and only then polish the area and go over it with a gloss varnish. Degrease the metal parts first and cement them with super glue, as ordinary glue for plastic does not hold on metal. Finish the engine and the interior and try them dry before you close the body up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
