1:24 Mazda Savanna SA22C RX-7

The real subject

The Mazda Savanna RX-7 is the first generation of the RX-7 coupe, which went into production at the end of the 1970s; on the home market it was sold precisely under the name Savanna. The designation SA22C belongs to the early series with a smooth nose and pop-up headlights, behind which there is a low hood without vents. It is powered by a two-rotor Wankel engine placed at the front; the rear wheels are driven. The compact body with a glazed tail and a low weight made the car an accessible sports car, which often appeared on the circuits as well.

Building and painting tips

The front area is smooth and long, so smooth it carefully before the ground coat is sprayed, otherwise the unevenness will show under the paint. Seat the pop-up headlights only after the paint is finished and mask their surroundings beforehand. With older real subjects it pays off to tone the gloss of the paint down slightly, so that the model does not come across as a present-day car. The large glazed tail calls for clean glazing, so touch it only by the edges and glue it with a thin glue for clear plastic. The recommended glue and the order of assembly are given by the manufacturer's instructions.
