The Mitsubishi Starion is a sports coupe with rear-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, built from the early 1980s. The Group A version was created by modifying the production car to the homologation rules, which allowed wider flared fenders, a racing suspension, a roll cage in the interior and a tuned turbocharged engine, but kept the basic shape of the body. It is precisely the combination of an angular body with markedly flared fenders and wide wheels that makes the circuit Starions one of the most striking cars of the Japanese championships of the second half of the 1980s.
On racing cars the quality of the finish and the accuracy of the decals decide everything. Sand the body carefully first, even it out with primer and spray the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush. Once it is dry, lay on a gloss varnish and let it cure thoroughly — decals settle on a smooth gloss considerably better and no silvery border forms around them. Lay large decals down with plenty of water and a setting solution, so that they settle into the recesses and over the edges of the flared fenders. Build the interior with its cage and bucket seats before closing the body, and paint it separately. Bring the engine and the chassis to life with a dark wash, but weathering is usually not applied to a finished car — circuit racers are presented in clean condition.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
