An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima in 1:24 from the More Grand Champion range. The real subject is the two-door Nissan Skyline coupe of the C110 generation with the type designation KGC110, nicknamed after the period advertising campaign Ken and Mary. The kit is not the production version of the car: it captures it in a street styling inspired by the cars of the Japanese Grand Champion racing series of the 1970s, that is with pronounced aerodynamic equipment and a low stance.
The Skyline of the C110 generation was built in the first half of the 1970s and is among the best known Japanese cars of that day. The two-door KGC110 version is a hardtop coupe with an inline six-cylinder engine, a long hood, a short rear end and characteristic round tail lights. The Grand Champion style, known among Japanese enthusiasts as grachan, carried the look of circuit specials over onto ordinary road cars: wide fenders, a front spoiler, a wing and deep wheels.
The parts are glued with thin cement for plastic, which is drawn into the joint by capillary action and leaves no marks on a painted surface. Spray the body with primer and then paint it with an airbrush in thin layers; on a car model it is above all the smoothness of the surface that decides, so a fine sanding between coats pays off. Apply a gloss coat before the decals, and once the decals have dried move to gloss or semi-matte according to taste. The chrome and black details around the windows can be handled with a liner brush or thin masking tape.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
