The Nissan MID4 concept car in 1:24 scale; according to the name, this variant also holds a masking aid for the window frames.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit aims outside the mainstream of production cars. The MID4 was never put on sale; it was a concept car shown to the public in the middle of the 1980s. That is exactly why it is a fairly rare subject among models of Japanese cars and why it catches the eye at once in a display case.
The body has the low wedge silhouette typical of the period idea of a sports car of the future. The engine sat ahead of the rear axle, that is in the middle of the car, and the engineering of the prototype was meant to show where the maker intended to take its sports models. The concept never reached series production, but a number of its ideas appeared on later types from the brand.
Wedge shapes with no needless ornament invite a smooth, saturated paint: on concept cars a strong shade with a good layer of gloss clear coat works well. The name gives a masking aid for the window frames, which makes easier exactly that part of the work which tends to be the most time-consuming on the glazing. Fit the glazing only once the paint is finished and avoid glues that fog clear plastic.
It is a classic kit to glue and spray, not a finished collector's piece.
