The Nissan Skyline GTS-R is the top version of the R31 generation of the second half of the 1980s. It came about so that a modified car could appear in Group A touring car racing: the rules required the matching model to be sold to ordinary customers as well, and so Nissan built only a small homologation batch. It is powered by a turbocharged inline six, sends its power to the rear wheels and is told apart from the other Skyline versions by a reworked front end and a wing on the trunk lid.
A kit of the vehicle in 1:24 scale, the most usual size for car models; a passenger car in it comes out at roughly twenty centimeters in length. How many parts the package holds, what marking options and what color schemes it offers, are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so go through them in full once unpacked. 1:24 scale has the advantage that accessories, decals and paints are easy to come by for it, because most car models are released in it.
On a car model the body decides. Wash it before painting so that no greasy film is left on it, then lay down a primer and the color in several thin coats. Deep gloss comes only from the varnish and its polishing, not from a heavier coat of paint. Glue the clear parts with an adhesive meant for transparent plastics, so that they do not go dull, and mask them before you start spraying. The small interior parts paint more comfortably in advance, while they can still be handled freely.
