An injection-molded plastic kit of the racing Porsche 944 Turbo in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The model captures a car from the German Porsche Turbo Cup series of 1988 in the form of the series winner. The package offers a finely rendered inline four, a well-worked interior with a roll cage, pop-up headlights and decals for period racing markings and sponsors.
The Porsche 944 Turbo was a sports coupe with the engine at the front and rear-wheel drive, derived from the 924 model. A turbocharged 2.5-liter inline four gave the car balanced handling, and in racing form it became the basis of the Porsche Turbo Cup one-make series. Identically prepared cars started in that series, so the result was decided mainly by the driver. The 1988 season is among the high points of the series.
Use thin cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the engine and the interior before closing the body up. Spray the body with an airbrush over a primer; with a racing finish a gloss clear coat with polishing pays off. The colorful sponsor schemes consist of large decals, so apply them to a smooth, glossy base and use a decal softener, so that they bed down into the shapes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
