An injection-molded plastic kit of the racing Porsche Carrera RSR Turbo in 1:24 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, so you build and spray the body, the cockpit and the running gear yourself. The 1:24 scale is the most widespread one for car models, so the kit goes well with other cars in a collection and with the accessories offered in this scale.
The Carrera RSR Turbo was a works racer that Porsche built in 1974 on the basis of the circuit version of the Carrera RSR. At the rear worked an air-cooled flat-six with a turbocharger; its displacement was around two liters and, under the equivalence factor then applied to turbocharged engines, it fell into the three-liter prototype class. You recognize the car at first glance by its markedly widened fenders and its massive rear wing. In the 1974 season it ran in the World Championship for Makes and finished second overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The experience with turbocharging that Porsche gained on this car then carried over into the later 935 and 936 types.
With racing cars the body is what counts. First clean up the parting lines and the ejector pin marks carefully, then lay on a filler primer and sand the surface smooth. Spray the color in thin coats and let it cure; only then comes the gloss varnish, under which decals will settle without silvering. Finish and paint the cockpit, the dashboard and the engine bay before you close the body up. Mask the clear glazing rather than painting over it, and leave the tires matte so they stand out beside the gloss varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
