Quinta Studio 1:24 radial riveting rows, black are raised rivets, that is, rivets standing above the surface in an arched arrangement for the rounded and circular surfaces of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
These are not marking decals and not photo-etched parts but a set of raised rivets, that is, of tiny raised dots that are transferred onto the surface of a model. Unlike engraved or pressed-in rivets, the detail stays above the surface, as it is on a real aircraft. The radial designation points to the rows being arranged into arcs and circles, so they can be laid on rounded surfaces, around the engine cowlings, on circular frames and on transitions, where a straight row cannot be used. The name gives a rivet size of 0.25 mm and a spacing of 1.0 mm, which matches 1:24 scale. Choose the black version where the riveting is to stay legible under lighter paintwork or where contrast against the base is needed.
The most frequent reason is repair. After a fuselage joint has been sanded, after filling or after sanding a whole surface down, the original riveting the kit manufacturer molded in there disappears as well. Restoring it by hand is slow and uneven. Ready-made rows shorten that work and keep a regular spacing. The second reason is refinement, because riveting on older molds tends to be coarse and oversized.
First rid the surface of dust and grease and spray it with gloss varnish; a smooth base is the easiest to work on. Separate the stretch of row you need, transfer it into place and seat it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Work in short stretches, check the run of the row and press down with a soft brush or a cotton swab, so that the rivets seat on a curved surface too. A decal softener helps it follow the shape. Let the finished riveting dry properly and fix it with varnish; only then carry on with painting and shading the panel lines.
