A pair of British wheel chocks, 1:24 RAF/FAA Wheel Chocks from AIMS, for scenes at shore bases.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of wheel chocks after British practice of the Second World War and the first postwar years. They were used by the squadrons of the Royal Air Force and by the shore-based units of the Fleet Air Arm, that is those that operated from land and not from ships. According to the figure in the name, the package contains two pieces. The scale of 1:24 turns an otherwise inconspicuous detail into a clearly visible element of a scene.
Wartime airfields on the British Isles worked like small towns. Grass surfaces or pierced steel planking, dispersal pans around the perimeter and mechanics who had to have their gear constantly within reach. The chocks were placed as soon as the brakes were applied, before every engine run and compulsorily while refueling and loading ammunition. After 1945 the same simple solution went on being used, because nothing more ingenious was needed for the purpose.
Chocks look most natural slightly sunk into the surface of the base, not standing on a smooth board. Apply a pinch of modeling paste under the edge and dust the surroundings with pigment so that the part sits in the terrain. Use cyanoacrylate glue for joining and let the joint harden undisturbed.
