Montex 1:24 – a masking set for the Spitfire IX is intended for spraying the cockpit frames and the markings instead of using decals. It assumes the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item belongs among modeling aids, not among kits. The name describes it as a set for the cockpit glazing from both sides complemented by masks for the markings, and that in the large 1:24 scale. It is therefore bought for a Spitfire model you already have glued and ready for painting.
The Airfix kit serves as the base; it is bought separately.
The Spitfire in version IX came about as a quick answer to the appearance of the opponent's new fighters and became the most numerously built variant of the whole type. It served with the Royal Air Force and with a number of Allied units including Czechoslovak pilots, so it offers a truly varied palette of possible finishes. That is exactly why masking the markings pays off more on it than on other machines.
It will be appreciated by anyone building a large Spitfire who wants the canopy frames sharp and the markings without a glossy edge. In 1:24 scale masking is noticeably more comfortable than in small scales, because the individual pieces are large and easy to handle even without a magnifier.
