Paint the body, let it cure thoroughly and go over it with a gloss varnish; on a smooth base the decals do not silver and settle reliably even over the curves of the fenders. Apply large sheets in sections with a softener and draw the surplus water off with a cloth. Leave the chassis at the competition ride height and align the wheels on a flat board. Once the final varnish has dried it pays to add restrained weathering: fine dust along the lower edges of the flanks and a more matte surface in the places where stones would have been thrown up on a stage.
