The Suzuki Jimny is among the smallest production off-road vehicles. The type designation JA71 belongs to the Japanese generation from the second half of the 1980s and the year 1987 sets its model form. The vehicle stands on a ladder frame with rigid axles and all-wheel drive, so even at small dimensions it manages terrain that larger cars will not dare. The angular body with flat glass and a short wheelbase makes it an easily recognizable type with a strong following among collectors.
This is a plastic kit supplied unassembled and unpainted. 1:24 is the most widespread scale for car models, so it pays to spend time on the interior, the chassis and the small details under the hood; all of it stays clearly visible. The range of parts, the decals and the recommended shades are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
It proves useful to assemble the main sections dry first and check the alignment, and only then to glue. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry, so that the paint holds. Mask the glazing and the bright trim before spraying, not after the paint has dried. The painted areas of the body will take gloss, while the plastic bumpers, wheel arch flares and window frames read more faithfully in semi-gloss or flat.
The kit will please collectors of Japanese cars of the 1980s and modelers who build small off-road machines. For the build, have a sharp blade, files, sandpaper and cement for plastic models ready. Paints, glue, tools and add-on sets are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
