A plastic kit of the Toyota Crown in the guise of a Japanese police patrol car, in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima. Black and white Crowns with a roof light are among the most characteristic cars on Japanese streets, and in model form they make a rewarding subject that any fan of Japan recognizes at once.
The Toyota Crown has served the Japanese police for decades, and the GRS214 version based on the S210 generation carries that on: a sedan with a gasoline six-cylinder engine, rear-wheel drive and police equipment including a roof light. Patrol cars in the typical black and white finish handle everyday public order and traffic duties all over Japan, and thanks to films and games the whole world knows them.
The key to a convincing result is a clean boundary between the white and the black part of the body: spray the white first, let it dry thoroughly and mask the black section precisely with good masking tape. Fit the roof light and the clear parts last, ideally with an adhesive made for clear parts so that nothing fogs over. The interior keeps its credibility in restrained gray and black tones.
