A plastic kit of the third-generation Japanese sports coupe Toyota Supra, internally designated A70, in the 2.0 GT Twin Turbo version of the 1990 model year. The model is in 1:24 scale and comes from the Japanese company Hasegawa, which modelers know for accurately shaped bodies and cleanly rendered pressings. The year in the name refers to the model year of the real car, not to the scale.
The A70 generation of the Supra followed on from the older Celica Supra in the mid-1980s and became a model in its own right. It was a classic coupe with a front engine and rear-wheel drive, with pop-up headlights and a squarely styled rear end. The 2.0 GT Twin Turbo version was meant for the Japanese home market: a two-liter inline six with a pair of turbochargers kept the displacement below the limit that decided a car's tax class in Japan, while still offering output comparable to larger engines. Versions like these are the ones collectors seek out today.
With car models it is the body that decides the result. Sand it before painting, blend the mold seams and spray on a filler primer, which will reveal any remaining scratches. Apply the gloss clear coat in thin layers and let it cure properly before you polish it. A dark wash run into the recesses brings the interior and the engine bay to life. Do not glue chromed parts with cyanoacrylate glue, whose fumes fog the chrome; reach for a liquid cement for plastic applied with the tip of a brush. Decals belong on a gloss base, and at the end you unify them with a varnish in the sheen you have chosen.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
