A set of replacement road wheels for the Panther tank model in 1:35 scale by T-Rex Studio. According to the name it holds two types of wheel, six pieces of each. That lets modelers put the running gear together as it looked on real machines, where the types of wheel could be combined on one tank.
The Panther stood on torsion bars with interleaved road wheels in two rows. The wheels overlap, so from the side only their outer layer is visible, but in large numbers and along the whole length of the hull. That is precisely why the road wheels are among the most striking elements of a Panther model and why the difference between an injection-molded and an accessory wheel tells at first glance. The Panther had its drive sprocket at the front and the idler wheel at the rear.
With interleaved running gear the order is crucial: the inner row is fitted and painted before the outer one covers it. Leave the wheels able to turn until the track is on, and keep checking that they lie in one plane. Paint the rubber tires in a dark shade of their own with gray mixed in, as pure black looks flat. Choose glue according to the material of the parts, liquid cement on plastic and cyanoacrylate on resin. On the Panther mud caught between the overlapping wheels, which is a rewarding place for textured paste and pigments.
