The Comet is an American car of the Mercury brand, that is, a brand of the Ford group. The 1964 model year caught the model in the form that collectors today know above all from the hot versions and from the tracks where American mid-size cars of the day made their name. A body with straight edges, a striking grille and a flat side is rewarding for painting and for adding the chrome elements that make up a substantial part of it.
It is a plastic kit in 1:25 scale, that is, in the most widespread size for American car models. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The extent of the parts, the treatment of the engine and the interior and the marking variants are given by the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
The straight sides of the body want patience: sand the surfaces carefully, fill the gaps and degrease the whole part before painting, because every unevenness will show under gloss varnish. Apply the gloss shade in several light coats and let them cure properly, and only then polish. Cut the chrome parts off as gently as possible and touch up the cut mark, otherwise bare plastic will be left in a visible place. The interior and the engine bay deserve a stage of their own, because once the body is glued up you can no longer reach them.
Paints, glue, filler and polishing compound are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
