A monster truck is an exhibition vehicle built on a massive frame with long-travel suspension, sturdy axles and off-road tires whose diameter exceeds that of an ordinary passenger car. The pickup body is only a light shell set high above the machinery, so from the side and from the rear the running gear stays exposed. Vehicles of this type appear at arena and stadium shows, where they drive over wrecks and jump over ramps. Bold graphics are part of the whole spectacle with them and often refer to the brand that backs the vehicle.
With a monster truck the chassis is the key. Glue the frame, the axles and the shock absorbers and let them cure thoroughly before you stand the model on its wheels, or the geometry will twist and the vehicle will not stand straight. With kits of this type the big tires tend to be of a soft material that polystyrene cement will not hold on; count on cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the body over a filler primer and apply rich shades over a white base. Apply the decals on a gloss varnish and add a decal softener. Then pick the chassis out with a dark wash and a fine dry brush, so the edges and the texture come out.
