An injection-molded plastic kit of the AMT brand in 1:25 scale. The real subject is one of the most famous American show rods, created in George Barris's shop from a 1929 Ford roadster pickup. The set offers three engine variants matching different periods of the car's life, a one-piece removable top, a chrome-plated chassis, a detailed grille shell with protective tubes, taillights from a DeSoto and optional cigar-shaped lights. An extended sheet of waterslide decals in period style is included.
The Ala Kart belongs among the peaks of the American custom scene at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. Twice in a row it won the main American award for the most beautiful roadster and became the subject of plastic kits even while it was still touring the shows. The combination of a lengthened front end, abundant chrome, striking paint graphics and upholstery made it a show car in the true sense of the word, that is, a machine built for the stage and not for the road.
A show rod stands or falls on paint and chrome. Spray the base over a white filler primer, then apply translucent so-called candy shades in several light coats so that they cover evenly; finally lay down a deep gloss varnish and polish it out. Do not paint the chrome-plated chassis and glue it only with cyanoacrylate glue. Decide before the build which engine variant you will use, because the layout of the intake differs too, and with it the space under the hood. Matte colors and a fine dry brush on the edges will liven up the interior upholstery.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
