1:32 modern USAF combat pilot figure is a resin casting that gives a large aircraft model a human scale and clearly readable flight equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a stand-alone figure, not an aircraft model. 1:32 scale is kind to figures: the body stands about five and a half centimeters tall, so details that disappear in smaller scales stay readable. A resin casting holds the sharp transitions of fabric, the buckles and the layout of the pressure equipment considerably better than injection-molded plastic, and it also allows the face to be sculpted properly.
A modern combat pilot of the US Air Force wears layered equipment that combines protection, survival and communication. The base is a flight suit of flame-resistant fabric, over it goes a harness with attachment points for the escape system, the chest and thighs carry pockets with survival gear, and the head wears a helmet with a visor and an oxygen mask. The form of this equipment has moved on considerably from Cold War aircraft, so a modern figure does not suit older types and the reverse holds too.
Wash the casting first in warm water with a little detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Separate the casting block with a fine saw and level the mark with wet sandpaper, protecting your breathing as you work. A light primer shade suits the figure and makes it easy to work afterward with dark washes into the folds and a dry brush on the edges. Paint the face separately and in layers, starting from a darker undertone and adding light to the nose, the cheekbones and the chin. Leave the helmet glossier than the flight suit; the contrast of the two surfaces is what makes the figure convincing.
