The leaves have the shape of a birch leaf and a yellow tone, that is the coloring of late summer and autumn, when a birch turns yellow before most other broadleaf trees. The Large variant is the bigger of the two sizes in which this kind of leaf is released.
The shape of the leaf is what tells the viewer which tree it is before the color does. A birch leaf is small, ovate and with a pointed tip, so a canopy made of it looks airy and the sky shows through it. That suits scenes where the vegetation is meant to fill out the setting but not hide the main model. Combined with a light trunk with dark markings it makes a recognizable birch, which on a diorama works as a landmark of northern or central European country.
