Small foliage finds its strongest use on vertical surfaces. The wall of an abandoned house, a flaking facade, a ruin or a concrete bunker look entirely different once a climbing plant is added: the building stops being a backdrop and begins to read as though it had stood there for years. The procedure is simple: a thin string or wire is first run up the wall as the main tendril, side stems branch off it and only then are the leaves applied. The smaller size is an advantage here, because the wall stays legible and the plant does not outgrow it. The yellow tone meanwhile suggests the end of summer or a drier spot on the sunlit side.
