This is a set of painting masks from the manufacturer Peewit in 1:144, not a kit of the aircraft. In this scale the whole aircraft is only a little larger than a thumb and the cockpit frames can hardly be cut by hand with any precision; a pre-cut mask saves a great deal of frustration here and decides whether a model looks clean. Peewit has long focused on the small scales and its mask sets are among the most widespread in the 1:144 segment.
The Alpha Jet came about as a joint French and German program between two aircraft makers and first flew in the first half of the 1970s. It is a twin-engine jet with a high-mounted wing, designed for two main roles: France introduced it above all as an advanced trainer, while the Luftwaffe took it as a light attack aircraft. Besides those two countries it served and still serves with a number of other users and it is also known from the displays of aerobatic teams.
Wash and degrease the glazing before applying them, because in a small scale a greasy fingerprint is enough to keep the edge of a mask from seating. Move the pieces with fine-tipped tweezers and press the edges down with a toothpick. Spray the paint in thin coats and rather from a greater distance, so that it is not forced under the edge. Take the mask off shortly after the paint is touch dry, before it cures completely.
