The set 1:48 MiG-29K ADVANCED kabuki masks is a modeling accessory for painting, not a kit. The masking parts are cut from kabuki material, that is from the thin Japanese tape with a well shapeable edge that modelers use wherever an area is meant to stay free of paint while spraying. New Ware marks the extent of its sets with three levels: BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT. The ADVANCED level stands in the middle of the three.
The MiG-29K came about as a carrier-based multirole fighter on the basis of the well known MiG-29. Operation from an aircraft carrier called for strengthened landing gear, an arrester hook, folding wing tips and thorough protection of the structure against the sea environment. The takeoff runs over a short deck from a ski jump, the landing onto arresting wires. The aircraft serves with the Russian and the Indian naval aviation and is often seen in fairly varied service markings, which makes it a rewarding subject for painting a model as well.
The set suits modelers who are building the MiG-29K in 1:48 scale and want the masking settled quickly and accurately. The middle level of extent is a middle course in breadth of coverage for those for whom the basic version is not enough but who do not need the most extensive package of the series.
