A set of paints from the Italian brand Lifecolor aimed at the camouflage schemes of the US Air Force in the 1960s. It is not a kit and not an accessory but painting material for modelers who build American combat aircraft of the period of the deployment in Southeast Asia.
The 1960s meant a fundamental change of appearance for the US Air Force. While older machines flew in unpainted metal surfaces or in simple gray and white combinations, with the deployment in Southeast Asia multicolored camouflage schemes came through, meant to hide an aircraft against vegetation when seen from above. The lower surfaces stayed light, so that a machine would not stand out against the sky. This appearance goes with the best known aircraft of the era, fighters and attack machines, reconnaissance aircraft and helicopters alike, and it is so characteristic that the era is recognizable by it at first glance.
With aircraft camouflage the transition between the fields is what decides. The best result comes from spraying with an airbrush with a soft boundary, or from masking with a raised mask, which leaves a finely blurred edge. Go from the lighter tones to the darker ones and let the layers dry out properly, so that they are not pulled off during masking. The shades can be mixed and lightened, so the large areas of the wings and the fuselage can be graduated and the model does not look flat. Shake the bottles properly before work and thin according to the manufacturer's recommendation. An intermediate gloss clear coat pays off under the decals, and a matte overcoat once the work is done, according to the character of the real subject.
